Pumpkin Scones ( Starbucks Copycat!)

These pumpkin scones closely mimic a well-known coffeehouse flavor, blending pumpkin puree with spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. The dough is enriched with sour cream, butter, and egg, producing a tender yet slightly crumbly texture. Finished with a spiced glaze, these scones offer a sweet and warmly spiced treat perfect for breakfast or snack time.

Description

Pumpkin Scones (Starbucks Copycat!) start by combining sour cream and baking soda to create a light texture. Flour, sugar, baking powder, and warm spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt are mixed, then chilled butter is cut in to create a crumbly dough. Pumpkin puree and egg are incorporated along with the sour cream mixture, forming a moderately sticky dough.

The dough is shaped into flat rounds, cut into pie-shaped wedges, then baked until golden-brown on top and bottom. The result is a hearty scone with moistness from the pumpkin and subtle warmth from the spice blend. After cooling, a spiced icing made from powdered sugar, milk, and additional spices is drizzled on to complement the flavors.

These scones combine pumpkin’s natural sweetness with a spice profile balancing cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Their texture is tender yet firm enough to hold shape, ideal for morning coffee or tea. The glaze adds a mildly sweet, fragrant finish that enhances but does not overpower the pumpkin.
