- 1 pound ground Italian sausage
- 1 onion diced
- 2 teaspoons garlic minced
- 3 cups pasta sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese grated, plus more for topping
- 20 ounces cheese ravioli from the refrigerated section
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
- basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400℉. Heat a skillet to medium heat and add sausage and onions. Cook until sausage is browned all the way through and onions are soft. Add garlic and cook for 1-2 more minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Add 3 cups of pasta sauce to the sausage mixture. Stir to combine. Cover and simmer over low heat while you prepare the other ingredients.
- In a large bowl combine ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese.
- Spray an 11x7 pan. Coat the bottom of the pan with a thin layer of meat sauce.
- Add a layer of ravioli.
- Add ½ of the remaining meat sauce.
- Top meat sauce with ½ of the cheese mixture and 1 cup of mozzarella.
- Repeat each layer one more time. Sprinkle extra parmesan over the top of the mozzarella if desired.
- Cover with tin foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove tin foil and bake for 15 more minutes or until cheese is browning and bubbling.
- Top with basil and serve.
Notes
- You can use cottage cheese instead of ricotta if desired.
- Use your favorite jarred pasta sauce or make your own.
- Serve with a green salad and breadsticks for a filling Italian dinner!
