Roasted Pears

Roasted Pears bring out the fruit’s natural sweetness and soft texture through a roasting process enhanced by butter, balsamic vinegar, and honey. Slightly underripe pears are halved and briefly sautéed before roasting in the oven, then finished with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and honey. This method delivers warm pears with a gentle caramelization and a balance of sweet and tangy flavors, suitable as a side or dessert.

Description

The Roasted Pears recipe starts with large, slightly underripe pears to ensure they hold their shape during cooking. After halving and coring without peeling, the pears are sautéed cut-side down in butter to develop a delicate browning. Then, they're roasted in a heated oven, first on one side, then flipped and drizzled with balsamic vinegar to add a subtle acidity and depth. After a short additional roasting, the pears are drizzled with honey and allowed to rest briefly. The result is a tender, warm fruit with a glossy finish and a nuanced blend of buttery, sweet, and tangy flavors.

Serve the roasted pears warm, spooning some pan juices over them. They can be enjoyed on their own or paired with dishes that benefit from a touch of natural sweetness and acidity.

Selecting pears that are firm rather than fully ripe prevents the fruit from becoming too soft or mushy after roasting, ensuring a pleasant texture.
