Salmon Steaks Recipe

Salmon Steaks are coated with a flavorful paste of miso, maple syrup, ginger, and garlic, then oven-baked until tender and flaky. Topping the cooked steaks with green onions and sesame seeds adds fresh, nutty notes. The glaze balances sweet, savory, and umami flavors delivering a well-rounded taste.

Description

This recipe for Salmon Steaks uses a marinade combining miso paste, maple syrup, fresh grated ginger, and minced garlic to create a flavorful glaze. The salmon steaks are prepared by removing scales and drying them before applying the paste evenly over the fish. Baking at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 to 20 minutes cooks the salmon through while allowing the glaze to caramelize lightly.

The finished steaks are tender and flaky inside, with a slightly sweet, salty, and aromatic surface from the miso and maple glaze. Garnishing with chopped green onions and sesame seeds introduces a bright, fresh contrast and subtle crunch.

Serving these salmon steaks works well as a main dish alongside simple rice or vegetable sides, emphasizing the intimate savory-sweet flavors.

  • 4 salmon steaks
  • 1 tablespoon miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 1 clove garlic finely minced
  • green onions to serve
  • sesame seeds to serve

Dry the salmon steaks with paper towels and place them on the baking sheet.
  2. Mix the miso paste, maple syrup, ginger, and garlic in a small bowl. Spoon the paste evenly over the top of the salmon steaks.
  3. Bake the salmon steaks in the oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit and the salmon flakes easily. Remove the salmon from the oven and serve topped with some green onions and sesame seeds.
