Satay Dipping Sauce

Satay Dipping Sauce is a creamy blend of coconut milk and peanut butter with a balance of sweet, salty, spicy, and tangy flavors. This sauce simmers with Thai red curry paste, fish sauce, and tamarind puree before finishing with fresh lime juice to brighten the taste.

Description

This sauce combines rich coconut milk with creamy peanut butter as its base, imparting smoothness and nutty flavor. Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) and brown sugar provide a sweet depth, while Thai red curry paste adds gentle heat and complexity. Fish sauce or soy sauce brings a salty, umami character, complemented optionally by tamarind puree's tartness. Garlic delivers savory pungency. After simmering to thicken and marry the flavors, freshly squeezed lime juice is stirred in last to give brightness and balance. This dipping sauce pairs well with grilled chicken, seafood, or beef satays, offering a creamy, sweet, and slightly spicy contrast that enhances the meat's flavor. Its moderately thick texture clings well for dipping or drizzling, lending richness and a layered flavor profile that harmonizes sweet, sour, salty, and spicy elements.
