Sesame Noodles

Sesame Noodles mix spaghetti with a sauce of garlic, sugar, vegetable oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sriracha, combined with cooked chicken, red bell pepper strips, and sliced green onions. The dish offers a balance of tangy, savory, mildly spicy flavors and varied textures, from tender noodles to crunchy vegetables.

Description

This Sesame Noodles recipe starts by cooking spaghetti just short of fully done to maintain some bite. The noodle water is then used to warm a sauce comprising minced garlic, sugar, vegetable oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sriracha for spice. The noodles, alongside cooked chicken chunks, red bell pepper strips, and green onions, are added back to the sauce and cooked briefly to let the pasta absorb the flavors.

The finished dish combines the silkiness of noodles with the crispness of bell peppers and the fresh flavor of green onions. Toasted sesame seeds sprinkled on top add a nutty aroma and slight crunch. The balance of sweet, tangy, spicy, and savory notes makes it flavorful without overwhelming any single ingredient.

Serving this dish warm allows the sauce to coat the ingredients fully. It can be a standalone meal because of the protein from the chicken or paired with simple sides if desired.
