Simple Lychee Jelly
Description
The Simple Lychee Jelly recipe relies on two ingredients: lychee nectar and agar powder. Agar powder acts as a vegetarian gelatin substitute that quickly thickens the nectar after boiling, forming a clear, firm jelly. The mixture is brought to a rolling boil to fully dissolve the agar, then poured into a container to set in the fridge for one to two hours. After chilling, the jelly is cut into small cubes, making it easy to add texture and mild fruit flavor to beverages or desserts. This jelly is straightforward to make and can be stored refrigerated until use.
Ingredients
- 250 ml lychee nectar
- ½ teaspoon agar powder
Instructions
- Pour lychee nectar into a small saucepan.
- Sprinkle agar agar powder over the liquid and stir until incorporated.
- Bring the liquid up to a rolling boil over medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and pour the mixture into a small glass container (I used a 3" by 4" container).
- Cool the mixture and place into the fridge to set, about 1-2 hours.
- Once set, use a sharp knife to cut the lychee jelly into small cubes.
- Use in your favourite drinks or desserts.
