Ingredients

  • 0.9 lb pumpkin 400g) (peeled, deseeded, or squash
  • 0.45 lb pork 200g, ground; or minced shrimp
  • ½ tbsp shallot minced; or white part of scallions
  • 1 tsp neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
  • 4 cup water (1 liter)
  • ½ tbsp chicken bouillon powder (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ tsp MSG (optional)
  • fresh herbs finely chopped, rice paddy herbs or scallions or cilantro

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the pumpkin.
  2. In a pot, sauté shallots in cooking oil until fragrant. Add the ground pork and cook until it's just browned.
  3. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Add the pumpkin and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. Season with chicken bouillon powder, salt, and MSG to taste.
  4. Stir in the fresh herbs and serve.
