Skillet Sesame Chicken & Broccoli
Description
This recipe begins by tossing diced chicken breasts with cornstarch to create a light crust once cooked. The chicken is pan-fried in olive oil over medium heat until browned and nearly cooked through. Steamed broccoli florets are added to the pan along with a sauce made from honey, ketchup, granulated and brown sugar, white vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic powder which provides a sweet-sour-salty flavor profile.
The dish is cooked on the stove to allow flavors to meld, then thickened using a mixture of cornstarch and cold water poured over the skillet and stirred until the sauce becomes glossy and coats the ingredients. Sprinkling sesame seeds adds a subtle nutty touch and visual appeal. This is suited for serving with steamed rice or noodles, bringing a balance of protein, vegetable, and a flavorful sauce.
