Spicy orange vinaigrette
Description
This vinaigrette starts with citrus components including orange juice, approximately from half an orange, and lime juice, paired with a tablespoon of vinegar such as white wine, champagne, or cider vinegar. Olive oil is added as the fat component, while ground cumin imparts a subtle earthy warmth. Fresh cilantro finely chopped adds herbal brightness and a bit of freshness. The inclusion of fresh red chili or hot pepper slices introduces a mild spicy kick.
The method involves placing all ingredients in a jar with a lid and shaking to emulsify and blend flavors well. It can be used immediately or refrigerated, with a shake before use to remix. This dressing balances sweet citrus acidity with spice and savory notes, suitable to dress leafy greens, grains, or grilled vegetables, enhancing them without overpowering.
