Spicy Shrimp Fried Rice
Description
Spicy Shrimp Fried Rice starts with shrimp seasoned with chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Eggs are cooked and set aside before sautéing aromatics like onions, garlic, and scallion whites with red pepper flakes in sesame oil. The shrimp is then cooked until just opaque, followed by adding leftover cooked brown rice which fries to develop a slight crisp at the skillet bottom. The eggs, soy sauce, and fish sauce are mixed in, finishing with scallion greens for freshness.
This stir-fried rice balances the tender shrimp with the warmth of spices and the umami of soy and fish sauces. The combination of eggs adds texture and richness. Cooking over high heat is key to achieving the right texture and flavor integration. It is a fulfilling dish suitable as a main course using common ingredients and leftover rice.
