Steak Fried Rice

Steak Fried Rice combines marinated sirloin steak cubes with cooked jasmine rice, mixed vegetables, eggs, onion, and a savory blend of soy sauce and sesame oil. The dish is stir-fried to create a hot meal with tender steak pieces and well-seasoned, fluffy rice that carries the savory garlic and pepper notes.

Description

The recipe starts by marinating cubed sirloin steak in a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and black pepper for at least 10 minutes to infuse flavor. The steak is pan-seared briefly over high heat for a browned exterior and tender inside, then set aside.

In the same skillet, butter and chopped onion are cooked until edges brown, building savory depth. Cooked jasmine rice, frozen mixed vegetables, and the steak are added back with remaining soy sauce mixture and stir-fried briefly. Eggs are cooked in the pan and folded through the rice, binding the dish with richness. This combination results in a well-textured fried rice with juicy steak pieces seamlessly integrated.

Serving immediately while warm keeps the dish satisfying. Green onions make a suitable garnish if available to add fresh color and mild sharpness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 lb sirloin steak
  • 3 cups jasmine rice cooked
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables frozen
  • 2 egg
  • 1 onion medium
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic and pepper together.
  2. Chop steak into 1 inch cubes. Place in a bowl, or zip top bag with 1/2 soy sauce mixture and allow to rest for 10 minutes (or more.) While the meat is marinating, chop the onion.
  3. Heat a wok or skillet coated with vegetable oil over high heat. Once the skillet is hot, add the steak in a single layer and cook 2 minutes on the first side, then turn and cook 1 additional minute. Remove steak from skillet.
  4. Add butter and onion to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the edges start to brown.
  5. Add the rice, veggies, steak, and remaining soy sauce mixture to the skillet and stir to combine. Let cook 2-3 minutes, then push to one side and add the egg and cook until done.
  6. Stir the egg into the mixture and cook 1-2 more minutes, then remove from heat.
  7. Garnish with green onions if desired. Serve warm, and ENJOY!
