Sweet and Salty Marshmallow Popcorn
Description
This recipe begins with air-popped popcorn and crunchy pretzels spread on a baking sheet. A caramel sauce is made by melting unsalted butter with light brown sugar and corn syrup, then melting in large marshmallows. Vanilla extract and sea salt are stirred in to deepen the flavor with a sweet and salty note. This hot marshmallow mixture is poured over the popcorn and pretzels, coating them thoroughly. M&M's candies are gently folded in while the mixture is still sticky, adding bursts of color and chocolate flavor.
The sweet marshmallow caramel binds the salty pretzels and popcorn for a satisfying contrast in flavor and texture. The end result is a chewy yet crispy treat that hangs together well, with distinctive sweet, salty, and chocolate components all in one bite.
This snack is ideal for parties, movie nights, or any time a sweet and salty crunch is desired. It should be stored in an airtight container and consumed within a week to maintain freshness and texture.
