Takeout Style Beef and Broccoli

This Takeout Style Beef and Broccoli recipe sautés tenderized flank steak strips with steamed broccoli florets in a savory sauce made from coconut aminos, beef broth, garlic, and ginger. The sauce is thickened with arrowroot starch for a glossy finish, replicating the texture and flavor typical of restaurant dishes, offering a balanced combination of tender meat and crisp broccoli.

Description

The recipe begins by steaming broccoli in water until just tender, preserving its bright color and slight crunch. Meanwhile, flank or skirt steak is tenderized and sliced thinly to facilitate quick, even cooking. The beef is sautéed in avocado oil until browned.

A sauce combining coconut aminos (or soy sauce), beef broth, fresh garlic, and fresh ginger adds savory depth and aromatic notes to the dish. Once beef and broccoli are combined, the mixture is brought to a simmer and thickened with a quick slurry of arrowroot starch and water. This technique creates a glossy, clingy sauce that envelops the beef and broccoli evenly.

The dish offers a home-cooked alternative to takeout beef and broccoli with rich flavor, tender meat, and crisp vegetables, suitable for serving over rice or noodles.
