Teriyaki Meatloaf

Teriyaki Meatloaf combines ground beef, finely chopped onion, torn bread, eggs, milk, and minced garlic mixed with a homemade teriyaki sauce of soy sauce, sugar, ground ginger, and black pepper. Baked at 350°F for about an hour, this meatloaf is glazed with extra sauce for a rich, flavorful finish, typically served with rice.

Description

This Teriyaki Meatloaf recipe melds lean ground beef with finely chopped onion, soaked bread pieces, eggs, milk, and minced garlic to form a moist base. The teriyaki sauce, made from light soy sauce, white sugar, ground ginger, and freshly ground black pepper, is whisked together and incorporated into the meat mixture, reserving some sauce for glazing.

The mixture is molded into a loaf shape or placed into a loaf pan, with the reserved teriyaki sauce poured over the top before baking. Baking at 350°F for 1 to 1.5 hours allows the meatloaf to cook through while the sauce caramelizes into a glossy coating. The final result balances sweet and savory notes with the aroma of ginger and garlic.

Typically served sliced alongside rice, this meatloaf offers an alternative take on the classic American dish by infusing Asian-inspired flavors. The texture is tender and moist thanks to the bread and eggs binding, with a pronounced glaze imparting layered savory-sweet complexity.
