Wonton Soup

This Wonton Soup combines tender minced garlic, ginger, and optional shiitake mushrooms sautéed in sesame oil with a delicate broth. Baby bok choy and wontons added in the broth create a comforting, savory soup with tender greens and soft, chewy dumplings. A finishing touch of soy sauce and sliced green onions adds saltiness and freshness for a well-rounded flavor.

Description

Wonton Soup begins by sautéing minced garlic, ginger, and chopped shiitake mushrooms in sesame oil to release aromatic flavors. Chicken broth is added and brought to a boil, then reduced to a simmer where halved baby bok choy softens gently while retaining texture. Frozen wontons are simmered until fully heated through, providing tender dumplings filled with savory ingredients.

The soup is brightened with soy sauce, which adds savory depth, and garnished with thinly sliced green onions for a fresh herbal note. The combination results in a light yet flavorful broth that balances aromatic vegetables and soft dumplings.

Serving this soup warm makes for a satisfying appetizer or light meal. The use of frozen wontons speeds up preparation while still maintaining a homemade feel when paired with fresh ginger, garlic, and greens.
