3-ingredient Gulab Jamun Ice cream

The 3-ingredient Gulab Jamun Ice Cream blends thickened cream, condensed milk, and pieces of gulab jamun, an Indian syrup-soaked doughnut, into a creamy frozen dessert. The final texture is rich and smooth with bursts of the soft, sweet gulab jamun. It’s a straightforward recipe that captures the classic Indian sweet flavor in an ice cream form, perfect for serving chilled at the end of a meal.

Description

This ice cream recipe begins by lightly whipping chilled thickened cream before folding in condensed milk to create a rich and creamy base without ice crystals from churning. Soft gulab jamun—small deep-fried balls soaked in a rose- or cardamom-flavored sugar syrup—are chopped and mixed into the cream mixture, adding bursts of sweet, spongy texture throughout.

The mixture is transferred to a container, garnished with crushed gulab jamun on top, then frozen for 7 to 8 hours or overnight to fully set. The result is an indulgent treat melding creamy ice cream and gulab jamun’s characteristic flavor.

This ice cream is best served chilled and can be topped with nuts such as pistachios or almonds for a bit of crunch and contrast. Covering the ice cream container with wrap before freezing helps prevent ice crystal formation and yields a smoother texture.
