Baked Honey Mustard Chicken
Description
This recipe starts with diced chicken breast pieces mixed into a sauce of Dijon mustard, honey, and fresh rosemary. The chicken is baked in this glaze with butter dolloped on top, which melts and keeps the meat moist during cooking. Cooking begins at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, with bacon cooked separately until crisp and added partway through baking to preserve texture. The bacon provides a smoky, crunchy contrast to the sweet and tangy honey mustard coating on the tender chicken.
The layered baking process helps develop a caramelized glaze while maintaining juicy chicken pieces. Finished with optional dried chives, the dish can be served over rice which complements the saucy texture and flavors. This recipe focuses on melding the sweetness of honey and mustard’s tang with herbaceous rosemary and bacon’s rich smokiness.
