Cabbage Steaks

Easy and delicious Cabbage Steaks are perfectly seared into golden brown and loaded with flavorful parmesan cheese on top. It's a quick and healthy side recipe to make with only 4 ingredients.

  • 1/2 cabbage head
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cut half a cabbage head into three 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick slices. Set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the cabbage steaks to the pan and generously sprinkle with salt and grated Parmesan cheese. Sear each side of the cabbage steaks for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and slightly golden brown. Dish out and serve immediately, with extra grated Parmesan cheese on top if desired. (If you don’t have a large pan, cook the cabbage steaks one at a time.)

Notes

  • Choose fresh cabbage to have a tender yet crispy texture once cooked. 
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you have a small pan, cook the cabbage steak one at a time. 
  • Add a hot kick to the dish with paprika or red pepper flakes to enhance the flavor.
