Ingredients
- 1/2 cabbage head
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- salt to taste
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cut half a cabbage head into three 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick slices. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the cabbage steaks to the pan and generously sprinkle with salt and grated Parmesan cheese. Sear each side of the cabbage steaks for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and slightly golden brown. Dish out and serve immediately, with extra grated Parmesan cheese on top if desired. (If you don’t have a large pan, cook the cabbage steaks one at a time.)
Notes
- Choose fresh cabbage to have a tender yet crispy texture once cooked.
- Don't overcrowd the pan. If you have a small pan, cook the cabbage steak one at a time.
- Add a hot kick to the dish with paprika or red pepper flakes to enhance the flavor.
