Chocolate Fondue
Description
In this Chocolate Fondue recipe, heavy cream is gently heated in a double boiler until it bubbles, then reduced to low heat before adding chopped semi-sweet chocolate. Stirring keeps the mixture smooth and helps the chocolate melt evenly. The result is a glossy, creamy fondue perfect for dipping an assortment of fresh fruits including strawberries, raspberries, banana slices, pineapple cubes, kiwi, and tangerine segments, offering a blend of sweet and tart flavors paired with the rich chocolate.
The fondue works well as a social dessert or party treat, where guests can customize their bites. It can be served alongside pound cake or other dippers if desired.
If the fondue is too thin, adding more chocolate thickens it. If it becomes too thick, warming cream can thin it out, but it's important to add warm cream to avoid the chocolate breaking and losing smoothness.
Ingredients
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
FONDUE DIPPERS
- 1 pint strawberries
- 1 pint raspberry
- 1 banana sliced
- 1 cup pineapple cubed
- 1 kiwi sliced
- 1 tangerine sections
Instructions
- Heat cream in a double boiler over a medium heat. When cream starts to bubble, turn it very low and add chopped chocolate and stir until all the chocolate is melted and smooth.
- Serve with fresh fruit or chunks of pound cake...or whatever else you can think of! (My favorite are strawberries and banana slices.) Happy dipping!
Notes
- Adjust consistency by adding more chocolate if too thin or warm cream if too thick.
- Ensure cream is warm when added to prevent the chocolate from breaking.
