Cinnamon Sugar Candied Nuts
Description
This recipe uses raw almonds and pecans mixed with an egg white mixture beaten until frothy to help the cinnamon sugar adhere evenly. After coating the nuts thoroughly with the cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar mixture, they are spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Baking at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes allows the coating to dry and crisp up slowly without burning the sugar.
The result is nuts with a crunchy sugar crust infused with cinnamon's warm spice. The use of both granulated and brown sugar adds layers of sweetness and slight molasses notes from the brown sugar. The egg white ensures a light, even coating.
Cinnamon Sugar Candied Nuts are suitable for eating as a snack, adding a sweet and spiced crunch to salads or desserts, or gifting during holidays.
