Coffee Jelly
Description
Coffee Jelly is prepared by boiling agar powder with coffee and sugar until fully dissolved, then straining the mixture into molds. After chilling in the refrigerator for one to two hours, it sets into a firm, yet tender jelly that holds its shape when cut into cubes. The agar provides a firmer texture compared to gelatin, creating a unique mouthfeel. The level of sweetness can be adjusted according to preference by varying the amount of sugar added.
The jelly cubes are commonly served in glasses with condensed milk, plain milk, or whipped cream, which soften the coffee bitterness and add creaminess. This dessert offers a refreshing and mildly bitter coffee flavor, making it suitable for an after-meal treat or a cool snack.
For a softer jelly texture, reduce the agar powder to ½ teaspoon. Removing bubbles from the surface before setting helps achieve a smooth appearance.
