Ingredients

Servings

Hamburger Steaks:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons onion finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Mushroom Gravy:

  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms I used baby bella mushrooms
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Hamburger Steaks:

  1. Combine the steak ingredients, except olive oil, in a large bowl and stir until well mixed.
  2. Shape the meat into 4-5 equal sized oval-shaped patties and set aside.
  3. Place a large frying pan over high heat and add the oil.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add the patties and cook 4-5 minutes per side or until nicely browned. Remove from the pan, place on a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.

Mushroom Gravy:

  1. Reduce heat to medium-high and melt the butter in the same pan.
  2. Add the mushrooms and onion, season with salt and pepper and cook stirrin for 5-6 minutes or until tender and browned.
  3. Add the garlic and rosemary and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the flour to the pan, stir constantly and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Slowly add the beef broth and whisk until smooth.
  6. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until thickened.
  7. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce.
  8. Add the hamburger steaks back to the pan, spoon sauce on top to coat themin the gravy.
  9. Reduce heat to medoim-low and cook for another 5-7 minutes or until warmed through.
  10. Sprinkle with parsley, fresh rosemary and serve.
