Homemade Cajun Seasoning
Report
Cajun seasoning is easy to make and tastes better than store-bought blends. When you make your own spice blends, you have control over the flavors. You can easily customize it to make your own signature blend by adding more of one or less of another ingredient.
Share:
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl. Taste and adjust, if desired. Store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Freshness. Ground spices have a shelf life and over time they will loose their flavor and aroma. Check the freshness of the individual spices before using them in your Cajun spice blend.
- Storage. Store your homemade spice blends in a dry place like your spice drawer, cabinet, or cupboard, just as you would store any spice, in an airtight container at room temperature. If properly stored, your Cajun seasoning mix will keep for up to a year.
