Instructions
- Place a steamer rack in the bottom of the Instant Pot. Add 1 cup of water to the inner pot.
- Add the eggs in a single layer. Put the lid on and ensure the steam release valve is closed and the sealing ring is in place.
- Use the table below to select your desired pressure cooking time: (see notes for times in text form)
- Set the Instant Pot on Manual mode for the desired time.
- When the timer goes off, do a quick release by moving the valve to the release position and letting all the steam escape.
- While eggs are cooking, prepare an ice bath by adding ice cubes to a bowl with water for chilling the eggs.
- Immediately add eggs to the ice bath and let them cool for 10 minutes - Do not skip this step. It is important!
- Peel and serve or store unpeeled in a sealed container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Cooking times may vary depending on your Instant Pot. I use a 6 quart instant pot for testing my recipes.
- You can buy an egg rack specifically for steaming eggs in the Instant Pot. If you make them frequently, you might want to buy one.
- The ice water bath is key to making the eggs peel quickly and easily.
- Older eggs work better in this recipe. If you have a source of farm-fresh eggs, let them age for at least a week before hard-boiling them
