Microwave Asparagus

How do you get tender asparagus? You make microwave asparagus of course. It is tender, it is flavoursome, it is fast, and you will want to cook it every day in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • 200 g fresh asparagus
  • 1 Tsp basil
  • 1 Tsp oregano
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 Tsp Light I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter

Instructions

  1. Place one tablespoon of water in the bottom of your steamer basket.
  2. Using a vegetable knife chop the ends off your bunch of asparagus and make sure it fits to the size of your steamer basket. Then give them a wash and add to the steamer basket.
  3. Add your seasonings and mix with your hands for an even coating.
  4. Place the lid on the steamer and then place in the microwave.
  5. Microwave for 4 minutes. Though check on it at 2 minutes as your wattage might be higher than ours.
  6. When it beeps do a fork text and then increase the cook time if needed.
  7. Once cooked leave the steamer lid off, add a little butter and cook for a further 30 seconds to melt the butter onto the asparagus before serving.

Notes

  • Optional – I love my asparagus with melted butter, but it is totally optional.
  • Fork – I highly recommend the fork test for quickly testing how done your asparagus is.
