Ingredients

  • 16 ounces ground Italian sausage
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup dry white wine
  • 28 ounce can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 16 ounces potato gnocchi
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Add the Italian sausage to a large skillet.
  2. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring to break up the sausage as it cooks.
  3. Add the onion and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the white wine and Italian seasoning. Cook, stirring the entire time, for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the diced tomatoes with juice, cream, and gnocchi.
  7. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 5-6 minutes.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Continue to cook until the gnocchi is cooked and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  10. Serve topped with grated parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Italian sausage: Mild or hot will work. If you can't find ground Italian sausage, you can use Italian sausage links with the casings removed.
  • Diced tomatoes: You can also use diced tomatoes with garlic and onion or Italian diced tomatoes.
  • Heavy cream: Heavy cream is sometimes called whipping cream or heavy whipping cream.
