Russian Buttercream
Description
The Russian Buttercream recipe requires only two ingredients: salted butter and sweetened condensed milk. Both should be at room temperature to ensure proper whipping. Using a whisk attachment, the butter is beaten at high speed to a pale, fluffy consistency before gradually incorporating the condensed milk. This creates a creamy, stable frosting with a balanced sweetness that spreads smoothly.
This buttercream is versatile as a cake topping or filling and sets well when refrigerated after decorating. It offers a denser texture than typical American buttercream but remains soft and flavorful without requiring powdered sugar.
Ingredients
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz can
- 8 oz butter salted
Instructions
- Make sure both the butter and condensed milk are at room temperature. Leave butter out of the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes
- Place room temperature butter into a mixing bowl and use the whisk attachment. Whip the butter until it turns white, which will take about 5-10 minutes on high speed.
- Slowly add in the condensed milk. Stop once it has all been added and is well blended. Use it immediately by spreading on a cake or filling a piping bag.
- Once the cake or cupcakes have been decorated, store them in the refrigerator until right before consumption.
