Sauteed Bamboo Shoots (Ginisang Labong)

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 cloves garlic - minced
  • 1 medium onion - chopped
  • 1 cup Prawns - shelled and deveined
  • 1 cup ground pork
  • 3 cups bamboo shoots (Labong) - cut into strips
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 talk green onions - cut diagonally

Instructions

  1. In a wok or skillet over medium-high heat, saute garlic and onion in hot oil until limp and aromatic.
  2. Add the ground pork and cook for 5 minutes. Add the prawns and cook until all sides turn pink.
  3. Add the bamboo shoots and fish sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for some minutes until bamboo shoots are tender.
  4. Before turning the heat off, add the green onions.
  5. Transfer to a serving dish.

Notes

  • If you are using fresh bamboo shoots, pre-boil it until half-cooked and then drain the water. Rinse the pre-boiled bamboo shoots and drain again.
