Turkey Chili

This Turkey Chili recipe combines ground turkey with canned beans, crushed tomatoes, and a blend of chili powder, cumin, cayenne, and brown sugar, simmered to meld flavors. The chili is hearty with a mild heat and balanced seasoning, making it a filling and comforting main dish that cooks in one pot.

Description

The Turkey Chili starts by browning ground turkey with chopped onion, garlic, salt, and pepper to develop a flavorful base. It then includes canned crushed tomatoes and two types of beans—kidney and chili beans—which add body and texture. The inclusion of chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, and a touch of brown sugar provides warmth, subtle heat, and a hint of sweetness that balances the savory ingredients.

The chili simmers covered for 45 minutes, allowing the flavors to deepen and combine. This one-pot method keeps cooking straightforward and results in a thick, homestyle chili perfect for colder days or casual gatherings.

Typically served as a main course, the chili can be accompanied by toppings like cheese, sour cream, or fresh cilantro if desired, though these are not specified here. The recipe notes a practical tip of using clickable timers during cooking.
