Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F).
  2. Wash the potatoes thoroughly and slice them into thin rounds or chips using a mandolin or sharp knife.
  3. Add the sliced potatoes to the bowl and toss them with all the spices and the oil then mix well.
  4. Add the sliced potatoes to the bowl and toss them with the spice mixture until they are evenly coated.
  5. Arrange the spiced potato slices in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the chips are golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through the baking time to ensure even cooking.
  7. Once the chips are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  8. Serve the spicy chips as a delicious snack or a side dish with your favourite dip or sauce.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness according to your taste by increasing or decreasing the amount of chilli powder.
  • You can add other seasonings like cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, or dried herbs to customize the flavour.
  • For an even crispier texture, soak the sliced potatoes in cold water for about 30 minutes before patting them dry and coating them with the spice mixture.
  • These spicy chips are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, but you can store any leftovers in an airtight container for the next day. Reheat them in the oven briefly before serving to regain their crunchiness.
